Growth is central to the Verano brand, from the premium flower we cultivate in house, to our ever-expanding dispensary presence. We spoke to Zack Swan, National Director for Retail Marketing, about some of our recent dispensary openings, new developments coming down the pipeline, and what’s next for Verano retail.
Latest Openings
Zack has overseen the opening of 70(!) dispensaries in the last nine months. Most recently, openings have included our hundredth Verano dispensary location in the bustling Wynnewood district of Philadelphia; our flagship Arizona store; and several rebrands, relocations, and remodels across the country as Verano acquires more facilities and transitions others from medical to recreational. While the nuances of individual state cannabis laws frequently pose construction challenges and delays, Zack and his team are committed to creating an enjoyable shopping experience in every single store. “Just changing the name on the outside of the store does not make it a Zen Leaf,” Zack said. “Thoughtful openings take time—but they’re always worth the effort.”
Locations to Look Forward To
With dozens of rebranded dispensaries set to open under the Verano name in the coming months—eight in Pennsylvania, three in Ohio, two in Illinois (including a store in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood with one of the largest client bases in the country which opened 6/17), five in Arizona, and 18 across New York, New Mexico, and Minnesota—Zack and his team expect to stay busy. Beyond rebrands, we’re building our first dispensary from the ground up: A milestone for Verano. Zack and team also plan to revamp several stores. For instance, the Apollo Beach MÜV, located next to our growing facility in a historic preservation site, will soon have its own drive through to increase patient access. Because with rebrands, net new openings, and remodels alike, “better access is always the goal,” Zack shared. And in that vein, Zack envisions a future with no “dispensary deserts.”
The Future is Accessible
For Zack, cannabis home delivery is key to that access. With over 70 MÜV locations across Florida and counting, we can soon deliver medical cannabis statewide—and before long, we hope to be able to deliver both medical and recreational cannabis nationwide. But until then, we’ll keep growing: Expanding our footprint, strengthening our community and our impact, and welcoming as many cannabis-curious folks inside our doors as we possibly can.
